Chloe Lattanzi's Anorexia Recovery

Chloe Lattanzi is in recovery from anorexia. The 21-year-old daughter of Olivia Newton John has been suffering from the eating disorder anorexia nervosa for two years.

The mother and daughter duo recently gave an interview to the Australian magazine ‘Woman’s Day’, in which they discussed Chloe’s eating disorder and the role Olivia has played in aiding her daughter’s recovery.

Chloe revealed that while she was in denial that she had an eating problem, she is taking very good care of herself now, and realises how lucky she is to be recovering from the potentially fatal disease.

“I have gone through an eating disorder. I don’t hide that. It’s nothing that I’m ashamed of,” said Chloe.

Her mother, Olivia, said parents need to be there for their child if they have an eating disorder. They must be supportive and prepared to listen, and try to understand the cause of the disorder.

Olivia advised: “The parents need to look at why their child has developed such a detrimental disease. And look at the issues causing the disorder. Listen to your child. Be supportive. Eating disorders are usually nothing to do with food. Parents need to be with their child to see them through it.”

Chloe has received help from a specialist therapist who deals with eating disorders, as well as advice from a nutritionist. Even so, Olivia believes: “All the therapists in the world can’t help if the parents aren’t present, loving and supportive”.

Chloe is now concentrating on her recovery and pursuing a music career just like her mother. She has already had a few acting roles and has sung alongside Olivia on stage. Chloe is now preparing to release her debut album ‘Lonely Nights in Paradise’.

Olivia was a good friend of the Grammy award-winning singer Karen Carpenter, who, in 1983, tragically collapsed and died from heart failure due to chronic anorexia at the age of 32.
